Sienna Thorne

Sienna Thorne has practiced divorce and family law in Chicago since her admission to the Illinois bar in 2009. Her work spans contested and uncontested dissolution, allocation of parental responsibilities and parenting time, spousal maintenance, division of marital property, and prenuptial agreements — the whole of family law, and nothing outside it.

She approaches every matter the same way: understand the family before advising on the law. That means listening first, mapping the outcomes a court could realistically reach, and being candid about which of them are worth the cost of pursuing. Clients hear the weak parts of their case from her before they hear them from anyone else.

Where a matter can be resolved without litigation, she pursues it that way. She sits on the Cook County Circuit Court approved family mediation panel, and a substantial share of her practice is negotiated settlement and mediated parenting agreements — which are faster, cheaper, and easier for children to live through than a contested trial.

Where it cannot be resolved that way, she litigates. Emergency motions, orders of protection, and contested custody hearings are part of the practice, handled with the same attention to the client's wellbeing that shaped the strategy in the first place.

She practices in Illinois only, primarily in Cook, DuPage, and Lake County courts. Family law turns heavily on the state it is heard in, and she will say so plainly rather than guess at another state's rules.
